Abstract | Este trabalho descreve o projeto de um protótipo de propulsor eletrotérmico do tipo resistojato empregando propileno como propelente visando aplicações em correção de órbita e controle de atitude de satélites. O propileno é um propelente autopressurizado que apresenta baixa toxicidade e reduzido impacto ambiental. Um modelo teórico simplificado do escoamento foi implementado para determinação da vazão mássica e da potência necessária para alcançar diferentes temperaturas de aquecimento. Com base nesse modelo, o empuxo teórico e o impulso específico ótimo foram determinados. O projeto do propulsor foi realizado com ajuda de um software livre de CAD, visando posterior impressão 3D em metal. ABSTRACT: This work describes the design of a prototype for an electrothermal resistojet thruster employing propylene as propellant, aimed at orbital correction and satellite attitude control applications. Propylene is a self-pressurizing propellant known for its low toxicity and minimal environmental impact. A simplified theoretical flow model was implemented to determine mass flow rate and the required power to achieve different heating temperatures. Based on this model, theoretical thrust and optimal specific impulse were determined. The thruster design was executed using open-source CAD software, with the intent of subsequent 3D metal printing. |
